Describes experiments to determine the discharge time of a secondary battery used in a bus and in a trader's van. The 12 V 'Chloride' battery was tested under simulated working conditions. Tables and graphs show the results. Effects of charging time, charging current, discharge time, discharge current, and recovery time, and intermittent operation are analysed. It is shown that rest time after recovery time has no appreciable effect on the characteristics of the battery.
