The digital raster graphics described is the Conrac Model 3819B graphics generator. Its flexible nature, militarized construction and microprocessor controlled intelligence add up to a highly qualified candidate subsystem for many roles. Originally designed for aircraft cockpits, it was initially conceived as a device capable of handling roughly half of the information display and control needs of the pilot. However, when complemented with a terrain map display a capability which can be handled by the graphics generator if the terrain map is electronic, other instrumentation in tactical aircraft cockpits may either be eliminated or relegated to back up roles.
