This fourth Earth station, being built 100 km north of Montreal, will meet increased international traffic requirements and provide access to the new INTELSAT V satellite, due to start operation at the end of 1981. It will incorporate the first beam waveguide antenna system to be built in Canada. This will greatly facilitate maintenance work, because it allows all of the signal-feed electronics equipment to be located in the base of the antenna.
