The 'Points Assisted System' basically replaces the points with a power transistor capable of withstanding 300-400 V. Improvements which can be achieved with this system are discussed. The improved design ensures that the maximum possible current for the longest possible time flows in the primary of the ignition coil, this being determined by the use of a monostable.
