The system is designed for approach and landing guidance under twilight and night conditions. It comprises laser sources of visible radiation located near the runway, the beams of these sources forming a landing corridor and identifying any fixed point on the landing path and limits of the runway. The principles of projective geometry and the scattering of laser radiation in the atmosphere are used in the system so that the pilot receives visually a combination of rays in the form of a symbol which describes uniquely the position of aircraft relative to the landing path and landing point. The system provides the pilot with the landing course (course plane), glide path (glide plane), position of the horizon, side boundaries of the runway, positions of fixed points on the landing path, and signal allowing or forbidding landing.
