Reviews the airborne equipment on modern aircraft for automatic piloting, for engine control, and for engine vibration monitoring, in each case gives block diagrams and in some cases photographs. The autopilot is treated in most detail, and there is also a section on power-assisted controls. In general, the use of electronic devices has reduced the need forhuman intervention and has increased overall safety. A bibliography is included.
