Describes AIDATS, Army In-Flight Data Transmission System, a microwave wideband data link which transmits aerial reconnaissance imagery to the ground in near real time. The data transmission is then converted into high quality hard copy film for tactical assessment. The K-band equipment with a capability of over 640 selectable channels is operational day or night in all weather. As well as military applications the equipment can be used in the containment of forest fires and disaster relief.
