To study mechanised underwater welding with self-shielding cored wire, an automatic apparatus has been developed at the Paton Welding Institute for the high-speed filming of the arc, and the processes taking place in it, using the visible band of the spectrum. Filming is synchronised with oscillographic recordings of the welding circuit voltage and current.
