A study of microwave propagation over long paths was conducted on the Southern Railways of India by continuous recording of received signals over different periods. To achieve a quantitative evaluation of the performance of the circuits, the number of dropouts over these paths below the threshold level was continuously recorded through an electronic counter and an additional counter integrated the time of the total dropouts. This quantitative recording taken during every hour over the entire 365 days of the year for the past 5 years has revealed considerable data, and the analysis of the results forms the subject matter of this paper.
