Automatic 'OMEGA' type receivers are currently available for installation in most types of aircraft as navigational aids. The paper describes in detail the methods employed in the utilisation of the transmitted signals and the establishment of a basic format for a universal propagation data forecast programme. The extent and limitations of a proposed global system are considered. The method proposed is not costly and is a co-operative system in that all aircraft concerned must be equipped in an identical manner.
