The closed circuit television system, designed, built and installed by Fabbrica Italiana Magneti Marelli, for traffic control purposes in the Mount Blanc tunnel between Italy and France, is summarily described in this paper. The system, consisting of 42 television cameras, 39 installed in the about 12 km long tunnelway and 3 in its access squares, permits a watch on the entire tunnel length as well as each individual vehicle from both control centers located at each end.
