Precision approach radar (PAR) is an apparatus to provide detailed radar information on landing aircraft in azimuth, elevation, and range for a predetermined approach path. Toshiba PAR, Type TW1124A, ordered by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department as an ILS backup facility was recently delivered. It is a solid-state completely dual system with high reliability and stability. As can be identified by the FAA test results, Toshiba PAR is the newest designed navigational aid facility, achieving a most excellent measuring accuracy and stability. A system featuring a sturdy slot array antenna structure, magnetic pulser, extraction of angle data with the synchro resolver, weather clutter suppression device, BITE, decentered display configuration etc. was successfully completed.
