Military aircraft maintainers believe that aircraft designers do not fully understand what it really takes to keep the aircraft flying. This paper discusses that perception and presents several examples of problems caused by poor accessibility and design. Examples of design improvements to facilitate easier and faster field servicing and repair are also described.
