The subject of this paper is EAGLE, a prototpye expert system concerned with the Evaluation of All Ground Launch Events. EAGLE helps determine the payload and mission of a missile or space booster launched from anywhere on earth that could be a threat to the United States or Europe. Available prelaunch information is treated as part of the knowledge base and EAHLE then is used to obtain the maximum amount of information about a single launch with a minimium of data on the launch. EAGLE primarily assists the analysts in removing the tedious portion of their work, the checking and cross-checking of booster and missile characteristics during each launch event.
