The magnetic train TRANSRAPID 06 is a prototype vehicle for high velocities in the range of 400 km/h. The vehicle consists of two sections which act fully independent and which are only connected by the onboard communication and control system. The forces between the vehicle and the guideway are created by 64 levitation magnets and 56 guidance magnets. The levitation magnets are constructed as longitudinal field magnets, where the magnetic field for levitation also serves as the exciting field for the long stator propulsion system. The paper deals with the subsystems of the vehicle. The maximum velocity of 355 km/h, due to the length of the non-closed guideway of 20.5 km, is reached. The experiments show, that full compatibility exists between the subsystems. The signals of the magnetic wheels show, that 400 km/h can be reached when the guideway will be a closed track loop.
