A multi-channel VHF narrow band packet radio system is described, which provides improved traffic capacity and flexibility over single channel systems. The multi-channel system is termed the Enhanced Packet Radio System, EPRS. A computer simulation of EPRS has been written which quantifies the gains possible through the use of multiple channels. The technological problems implied by multi-channel duplex radio equipment are shown to be surmountable by employing integrated data receivers, a shared synthesiser architecture and an adaptive nulling loop.
