Automotive electronic technologies continue to markedly grow and expand widely as progress in microelectronics, information technologies, and research and development on materials advances towards the next decade. The keys to this progress are microelectronic device technologies including functional devices, advanced software technology such as the applications of modern control theory and artificial intelligence, information communication processing technology and optoelectronics; these all also form the base for the futuristic advancement of electronics. Progress is not limited only to control areas, such as engines, drive trains, chassis, but also impact on the information service areas which assist the ability of drivers in realizing safety and comfortable driving. Thus, it can be concluded that the future direction and goal for automotive electronic systems can be summed up as 'integrated systems with high intelligence', enabling high performance, safety, comfortable driving, and high reliability.
