Further developments, already being undertaken, to enhance the effectiveness of the flight simulator include a wind shear generator to provide g.a. pilots with the conditions to train to handle the unusual and dangerous situations created by encountering wind shear. An airborne wind shear detection unit which will provide a pilot with aural messages alerting him to the presence of wind shear is also under development. The flight simulator also provides at a realistic cost for academic establishments an excellent research and educational tool for studies concerned with the Mechanics of Flight, Aircraft Personance, Flying and Handling Qualities, and Aircraft Stability and Control.
