The outstation monitoring unit (OMU) developed for use on traffic signals in London will: a) Work with any type of signal equipment currently supplied in the UK and report faults occuring on controllers, detectors and signal lamps. b) Interface to the signals with minimum trouble by connecting to existing lamps and detector terminations in the controller. c) Communicate with the instation computer over the public switched telephone network. Dial in to report faults when they occur. Accept calls from the instation to report outstation status. d) On microprocessor based controllers to MCE0141, download data from the instation to the controller and upload data from the controller to the instation, via the RS232 engineers terminal interface on the controller. e) Accept controller checking and lmap monitoring software downloaded to the OMU from the instation computer. f) Accept configuration data for individual sites downloaded to the OMU from the instation computer.
