The increasing complexity of airborne communications, in particular via satellite, requires an operator to select from many available communications choices in responding to a dynamic military environment. The expert system proposed can assist the operator by optimizing communications links as a function of existing conditions. In the ultimate system, an operator would designate the addresses and the message, and the system would route the information to the recipient. The process parallels our present telephone system in that the communications links are of no concern to the sender.
