For the last years interest for fishery problems has grown. Large international projects or surveys are carried up, for instance, within the frame of Food and Agriculture Organization (F.A.O.). In France fishery studies are performed by Institut Francais de Recherche pour 1'Exploitation de la Mer - IFREMER, an organism issued from the merging of Institut Scientifique et Technique des Peches Maritimes - I.S.T.P.M. and Centre National d'Exploitation des Oceans - CNEXO. Besides, Office de Recherche Scientifique et Technique d'Outre-Mer - ORSTOM leads overseas surveys. Such an increasing interest is particularly explained by the following reasons: (i) as fisheries vessels are very expensive, in part due to electronic equipments, fisheries have to be as short and efficient as possible; (ii) amounts of caught must be planned to preserve species. Predicting the favourite sites of the various species and their relative amounts allow rational planning of fisheries in a given area.
