Many technical persons can be expert witnesses if they choose to do so. An effective expert witness combines basic communication skills with a knowledge of the responsibilities of an expert witness. An expert witness trains his own attorney, prepares written and oral testimony, withstands cross examination and aids in the cross examination of opposing experts.
