The normal force of SLIM varies its amplitude and distribution according to its operating condition. Such variations act as disturbances to control system of EMS and it results to increase operating range of magnet inevitably. Then the weight of the vehicle rises and it injures the rational design of the system. We studied about this interaction through mathematical model of SLIM and considered its drive system control scheme to suppress the effect of the normal force as small as possible. Application of linear motor propulsion to conventional railway has been aimed to improve adhension characteristics and to reduce the size of its bogie. Our investigation is expected to solve the unbalance of axial weight and additional load for such application.
