A Solar Dynamic Power Generation Subsystem (PGS) for the Space Station offers significant advantages over photovoltaic solar arrays. The Receiver has been recognized as one of the key technology issues for the solar dynamic PGS. Various designs of receivers and thermal energy storage (via latent heat of fusion) are discussed. A low temperature receiver (OCR system) reduces material problems, tracking and pointing requirements, and lessens the environmental effects (cosmic radiation, atomic oxygen). Continued development of heat pipe and integral thermal energy storage technology has reduced the design complexity of the receiver - thermal storage - power conversion unit interfaces. The ORC receiver is ready to be selected for the Space Station IOC.
