Within the last few years an intense work has been done to develop electro-motors and suitable batteries for the electric car. These electric cars are supposed to be used in the city traffic to reduce noise and contaminated air. The enclosed papers present a laboratory system consisting of a traditional Ward-Leonard system with controlers which make it possible to test dc-machines, batteries and control electronics for drive systems of electric cars with realistic loads and in this way study the static and dynamic properties of electric drive systems under realistic conditions.
