The Power System Advanced Development Program includes tasks in Power Generation, Energy Storage, and Power Management and Distribution. All key activity elements are being addressed. In Power Generation, technical issues in photovoltaic arrays and solar dynamic power systems will be examined in this paper. The electrical Energy Storage system being advanced is the regenerative fuel cell and a status report on that technology will be discussed. Power Management and Distribution tasks are presently evaluating automated power system control, component and device development and power system hardware. The results to date of those evaluations will also be reported. Finally a status report on the Power System test bed and flight experiments will be presented. Since the contracts for the Space Station Definition and Preliminary Design for the Power System will include an Advanced Development effort, a status report on that activity will also be presented.
