Reconfigurable digital fly-by-wire actuation systems will become an integral part of future military and civil advanced aircraft. These systems combine the machine intellect capability of the digital microcomputer with the proven dependability and reliability of electrohydraulic actuators to produce a more cost-effective design with increased aircraft safety and survivability. Prototype hardware of one innovative concept has been fabricated and extensive laboratory evaluation has been completed with highly favorable results.
