Embedded training is a promising capability for the next generation aircraft and it is made possible by new developments in airborne system technology that support integration and expanded computer control. Levels of training capabilities from simple to complex are presented for air-to-air and air-to-ground applications. The paper examines the framework for embedded training in avionics which is based on advances in computer technology, computer generated cockpit displays, and an integrated digital system architecture.
