A synthetic aperture Radar (SAR) is one of the promising microwave sensors for the earth observation. National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) is researching and developing the synthetic aperture radar for the earth observation satellite in near future such as the Earth Resources Satellite - 1 of Japan (J-ERS-1). The paper describes the test results of some key components of the SAR transmitter and receiver.
