The purpose of this paper is to define and discuss GPS integrity and coverage reliability with respect to FAA requirements, assess how well GPS satisfies these requirements as a supplemental or as a sole means of air navigation, and to discuss alternatives for correcting GPS definiencies with respect to FAA requirements. Additionally, the current status of the joint DOD and DOT/FAA work to resolve these deficiencies is summarized.
