The parameters of a thyristor bridge load have the significant influence on a generator performance. By the careful design of load reactances and load conditions it is possible to decrease the harmonic of armature current and as result to decrease the total active losses and the mechanic vibrations. The decrease of a harmonic armature voltage by external inductance is more efficient than by changing parameters of a generator. In this regard it is better to design the greater magnitude of a synchronous reactance Xd and to operate with nominal output voltage. The significant increase of the reactive power of classical marine generator under thyristor operation is noted. Hence its overall efficiency is low.
