The very important trend of sonar technology development is the high angular resolution systems construction for underwater objects identification. The diffraction phenomenon, applied for last time in optics only, is the basic effect in this technique. Multi-elements piezoelectric arrays and multi-channels signal processing application makes possibility utilizing all information from scanned space, included as well in amplitude relations as phase relations of acoustic waves. The picture of scanned space - or target - shown on monitor or printed by computer it's the result of adequate signal processing in these imaging systems.
