Spaceborne observations of extraterrestrial objects as well as Earth have resulted in major advances in optics and remote sensing technology. This paper describes the unique optical features of Voyager, Galileo, and several other planetary, astronomy, and astrophysics missions such as Space Telescope, Infrared Astronomical Satellite, Solar Optical Telescope, Advanced X-Ray Astronomical Facility, Large Deployable Reflector, and Imaging Sepctrometer.
