The Payload Storage Facility provides six secure, environmentally controlled bays for storage of spacecraft and flight ready cargo elements. Each cell is of firewall construction with smoke/flame monitoring devices. The Final Assembly Building features high bay, clean room areas for hazardous operations and Cargo Element final assembly. Three adjacent bays are designed for spacecraft hazardous operations, spin balance, and solid upper stage processing. The Spacecraft Operations Bay is designed for liquid propellant servicing with state-of-the-art safety systems to accommodate spills and to preclude emission of toxic vapors. The Spin High Bay houses an 18500 lb. capacity spin balance machine.
