This paper is a tutorial to air data systems designers to illustrate the relationship of air data measurements to the air-ground delivery function. Delivery profiles and accuracy requirements for delivery of conventional weapons on the modern battlefield are outlined to introduce performance goals. Weapon ballistics estimation methods are presented, identifying the typical usage of air data in the calculations. The effects of measurement errors and performance parameters on range estimation are paramterized and quantified for the the delivery envelope to illustrate the relationship between air data performance parameters and conventional weapon delivery accuracy.
