This paper describes the methods that have been used to build quality and reliability into Spacelab Software. This large software project was run by a consortium consisting of 5 companies in 4 countries, working with staff of 9 nationalities, to produce software which is now being used to control the European designed and built space laboratory Spacelab, which forms part of NASA Space Transportation System. The software has now been delivered to NASA in the USA; it has passed Design Certification Review and it is being used at Kennedy Space Centre to prepare for the launch of the first Spacelab mission in September 1983 in the Space Shuttle.
