A method is presented which provides optimal guidance of an airborne vehicle from an arbitrary perturbed position to an exact desired point by using optimal digital control theory for a digital control system under specified control variable constraints and final time state variable constraints. In particular, this paper illustrates an approaching trajectory with path control and determination of minimum horizontal clearance range required for an airborne vehicle to pick up a load from the ground without landing.
