Integrated Diagnostics (ID) is a system management/engineering discipline. ID is the detection and unambiguous isolation of one hundred percent of the sets of faults identified as known or expected to occur in prime mission equipment and associated support, test, and training equipment which comprise the system to which it is applied. ID is not, in itself, a diagnostics technology or specific technology mix. It makes use of available diagnostic technologies, forming the particular mix best suited to each system, to achieve its objective and meet the user's requirements and constraints. The technologies which may be used include but are not limited to: built-in test (BIT), off-line automatic test equipment (ATE), and manual procedures specified through technical orders (operating procedures). The one hundred percent fault detection and isolation requirement applies to a closed 'set of faults' identified through analysis and/or experience. The set of faults should be permitted to grow.
