The resons for appearance of damage in pole-system windings of electric-locomotive traction systems under the action of electrodynamic forces are considered from the theoretical and practicla viewpoints. Formulas are derived for the calculation of these forces. Recommendations are given whose implementation would make it possible to exclude deformation of turns in commutating-pole coils.
