The technology, design features, and performance of a versatile automotive ignition module have been described. The versatility of the module comes from the fact that some of the module parameters can be altered by changing only the IC metal mask while still retaining the same flip chip. This versatility allows the system design times to be less than normal while still providing a cost competitive module to the customer. The Hybrid Technology used to implement this ignition design has proven itself to be highly reliable for the automotive underhood environment.
