Authority requirements, scientific interest and commercial requests have initiated the set up of a digital flight data readout and processing station at the German Aerospace Research Establishment (DFVLR). The efforts to meet the special requirements such as different bit rates, data fault correction, and reduction of data loss during transcription and reformatting are described. Prints and plots show applications up to complete flight path reconstructions. Proc. of the 11th symposium 'Aircraft integrated data systems', Koeln-Porz, September 22-24, 1981.
