Abstract: Development of the Tactical Airborne Reconnaisance Pod System (TARPS) Operational Test Program Set (OTPS) introduced a totally new concept in the US Navy procurement of avionic test programs. For the first time, total OTPS support of the Weapon Replaceable Assemblies (WRA's) was succesfully demonstrated prior to Fleet certification for use of the avionics system. Parallel development of the OTPS and the avionics system was required. The procurement program consisted of a closely coordinated effort by the principal participants: Harris Corporation/PRD Electronics Division and Naval Air System Command (NAVAIR) including its support agencies, Naval Air Engineering Center (NAEC) and the Naval Air Development Center (NADC).
