In its facility at Lynn, MA, General Electric's Aircraft Engine Group tests components of jet engines it develops and manufactures for military and commercial aircraft. The primary purpose of the tests is to determine the life of a part when it is subjected to the same type loads it will see in use. For turbines and compressors used in jet engines, major loads are experienced during engine acceleration and deceleration.
