NASA's Space Shuttle, the most complex aerospace vehicle ever flown, requires a systematic yet flexible method for verification of its hardware to software interaction. An overview of the vehicle's systems is presented here and provides the basis for examining the approach to system level verification. The guidelines followed by Space Shuttle program management to ensure adequate and appropriate testing are examined along with the primary laboratory facilities used for test conduct.
