For substation equipment, there are increasing demands for nonflammability, noise abatement, size reduction and labor saving. To meet these requirements, products incorporating new technology are being developed and used on a commercial basis. This article describes the features of an SF6 gas insulated switchgear, a resin molded transformer, a Freon boiling cooled silicon rectifier, and a program logic controller which satisfy these demands. Application of these products for traction substations is also introduced. The units are believed to be adopted extensively for traction substations.
