One of the first major uses in In-77 high strength alloy steel was in the construction of oil and gas pipelines in Alaska. The steel combines high strength and impact toughness down to -62 Cel with good weldability and formability. It is being used by the Rimpull Co of Olathe, Kansas, who find such properties equally valuable in construction of off-road earth moving vehicles for mining aplications.
