Offshore waterflood plants that supply high quality, pressurized seawater to maintain high oil and gas production rates include special operations not needed by their land-based counter-parts. The author describes the basic waterflood process and highlights several functions of an integrated system, consisting of PlCs, analog controllers and hardwired logic, which handles such operations.
