Threshold Limit Values (TLVs) for airborne contaminants, laid down by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists are generally adopted by the appropriate authorities int his country. These values refer to time-weighted concentrations for normal working periods and are based upon the best avaiblabe information from industrial experience, experimental human and animal studies, preferably from a combination of all three sources. It is believed that there should be no adverse effects on persons repeatedly exposed to contaminants at levels below their TLVs.
