This paper introduces the conic lofting tile and is the first of a series describing CONSURF, thes urface lofting programm now being used by t he British Aircraft Corporation. The tile ist he building block for surfaces defined by CONSURF and has the mathematical freedom to match the shapes produced by manual conic lofting. It is presented as a generalization of the bicubic patch.
