The Clean Air Act, as amended in 1970, required that the Environmental Protection Agency investigate the impact of aircraft emissions on air quality, determine the technological feasibility of controlling emissions and develop emission standards for aircraft and aircraft engines based on the resultant findings. The body of information presented in this paper is directed to those individuals interested in EPA's approach to aircraft emissions control.
